A. The vehicles computer calculates when service is due based on mileage, time and other conditions, if the system is not reset each time this information may not be correct.

Q. What does the Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light mean?

A. These lights are illuminated due to a malfunction within the vehicles on-board diagnostic system, there are thousands of codes that the computer can store based on which component in the vehicle has a malfunction, it is a requirement that these items be repaired in order to pass the Massachusetts State Vehicle Inspection Program.
